“The quieter you become, the more you allow yourself to see."-Rumi

From the Artist:

The dragonflies are known for their calm and poised presence, embodying the essence of true stillness. With nearly 360-degree vision, they hover effortlessly, observing the world with clarity and depth. This ability to stay still and see clearly is what I believe Rumi spoke of in his quote. It's a reminder that in moments of genuine quiet, we can perceive more, understand better, and connect more deeply with ourselves and the world around us.

In today’s fast-paced, noisy world, we are bombarded with endless streams of information. Many of us mistake scrolling through social media for being quiet and listening. We become passive consumers rather than active observers of our lives and surroundings. This constant influx of opinions and noise can steal our ability to form our own thoughts and embrace ambiguity.

Creating "Whispers" was an exploration of this connection between stillness and perception. The dragonfly serves as a symbol of the clarity and insight that come from embracing quiet reflection. It is a direct challenge to the notion of being constantly engaged equates to meaningful interaction or understanding.

Through this piece, I invite viewers to pause and consider the value of true stillness in their own lives. I hope it encourages a shift away from the superficial, and towards a more genuine introspective silence.

By doing so, we can cultivate our own opinions, appreciate the beauty in ambiguity, and see the world with fresh, clear eyes.

A reminder that the most profound insights come from embracing silence without noise– observing with an open heart and mind.
