AN EVENING WITH HUGH SYME
Featuring the Art of RUSH's "Fifty Something" Anniversary Tour.
As Rush returns to the stage for its historic Fifty Something tour, Syme has once again created the imagery that accompanies a new chapter in the band's story.
Unlike previous Rush tours, Fifty Something is not centered around a new album. Instead, the tour celebrates more than five decades of music, creativity and the enduring legacy of Rush and Neil Peart. That presented Syme with a very different creative challenge: how do you visually represent the past, present and future of a band whose imagery is already woven into the history of rock?
The answer can be seen throughout the new Fifty Something visual world.
Among the most striking elements is imagery of three birds—two remaining together while a third takes flight—a subtle and deeply personal reference to the band's history and the loss of Neil Peart. Syme has also created an entirely new symbol for Rush, drawing inspiration from the concept of three and Celtic imagery.
The result is a visual language that acknowledges Rush's history while signaling that the band is moving forward.
Syme's new Fifty Something artwork will be presented in Austin at Ao5 Gallery, giving fans and collectors an opportunity to experience the work outside the context of a concert stage and see the art as fine art in its own right.
