I create unique hand-crafted sculptures and installations using wire mesh, a utilitarian material usually hidden under the structure— but I am bringing it to the surface so that my work can have transparency about it, literally and figuratively. I use light, wire, and shadow to express ideas of the world around me. My work explores a wide range of subjects ranging from technology to wildlife conservation and women’s rights.
Marina works in industrial wire mesh because it’s such a simple, utilitarian medium – but it’s so expressive at the same time. It’s usually hidden under the structure, but I want to bring it to the surface so that my work can have a transparency about it, literally and figuratively.
