About the Gallery
Ao5 Gallery is Austin’s largest contemporary art gallery, and has been committed to bringing a wide selection of accessible fine art to Austin for over 20 years. We are constantly changing our display of featured artists to attract new visitors and keep the gallery fresh. With multiple artists receptions and events each month, there is always something new to see and experience, even for frequent visitors. For our 20th year, we decided to give the gallery a fresh new look as well; updating our brand to fit our evolving style while paying tribute to the original 5th Street location in downtown Austin, Texas. ART on 5th has become Ao5 Gallery, but rest assured, we are the same gallery you have come to love over the years!
Gallery Director: Todd began his professional career as the assistant at a small gallery in Houston in the 1990’s. There he gained in depth knowledge of stone lithography and the heritage of vintage posters. Quickly becoming the Gallery Director within the first two years of employment, he began traveling the world to acquire and sell fine art. In 2010 he left the gallery to become a Senior Art Director for a global art company working on 6 of the 7 continents. When he resigned from his position in December of 2013, he was asked to be the Gallery Director of Ao5 Gallery, which at the time was named ART on 5th because of it’s 5th Street location. Coincidentally, this gallery was one of the first galleries at which he had ever done an independent trunk show back in 1998. Within his first two years of taking the reins, Ao5 Gallery received the Best Gallery of Austin award and three years consecutively… The Best Gallery in Texas.

Custom Framing Director: I never knew the path to custom picture framing would start with failing sophomore year high school and having to attend summer school. That was my wake up call to get my life together to get out of rural upstate NY. I made radical changes and over the next two years I honed my art making skills and graduated high school with honors. While at Salem College I thought I would teach college level art, but first one has to be an artist. A few years into my picture framing career I realized I’m better at solving other people’s visual problems than my own. The best part of framing is seeing new art and learning new skills on a daily basis, which makes for joyful work, a fulfilling life, and fuels my passion for this craft. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife Bernadette, cats Bart & Maggie, and dog Lisa.
